LOS ANGELES, CA ­ September 2006 ­ For her contributions and the totality of her work in the Assyrian Community, including the publication of her epic and historical novel The Crimson Field and her testimony before a Congressional Committee of the 109th Congress of the United States on religious freedom regarding the genocide, massacres and persecution of Assyrians in Iraq, on Sunday, September 3, 2006, at the 73rd Annual Assyrian American National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, the Board of Advisors of the Assyrian American National Federation, Inc. (AANF) awarded Ms. Rosie Malek-Yonan as Woman of the Year.
